WASHINGTON, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- The producer of the hip-hop song Stop the Violence in the Street was shot to death in suburban Washington as he chased after his car hooked by a tow truck.
The Washington Post reported Saturday that popular music producer Raymond Brown, professionally known as Scottie Beats, 36, was chasing a tow truck early Friday morning after it had hooked his Chrysler 300 from outside his home in Prince George's County.

Police said it had not been determined if the Chrysler was being stolen or repossessed.
Police are asking for the public's help in locating the tow truck. Capt.

Dwayne Preston described it as a black crane-type truck rather than a flatbed, with white or red lettering. A Cadillac appeared to have been working in concert with the tow truck, witnesses said.
Apparently Brown dashed out of his home when the alarm went off and frantically tried to catch up to his car.

When he confronted the tow truck driver, he was fatally shot.
