Caught two movies this weekend:
Rainbow's End
Documentaries are good, but mostly I wanted to watch this because it was billed as German/English subtitles. So not true. It was made by two Germans, but it was mostly narrated in English.
Mostly about state of queer / gay rights in Europe. Hokey. Poorly made (editing, filming, etc.
). Interesting and sad, though. Immigration for same-sex couples, harassment/violence against gay couples in Amsterdam (by immigrants.
.. non-white ones.
That went over well.) ILGA (and international lgbt group) and their work at getting recognized by the UN. Again, with gratuitious shots of vitriol-spewing people of color (africans!
are! so! backward!
and! homophobic! europeans!
are! obviously! superior!
)
The debacle with the gay pride marches in Poland - Warsaw/Krakau (or do you spell it Crakow in English?)
Colma: The Musical
I love musicals. Luckily, a real-live Californian I went to the movie with was able to clue me in on what Colma means to people (it's a apparently this archetypical boring suburb).
Yay music. Yay for no real plot. Yay for cute boys.
Boo for going on too long.
