(RTTNews) - Early Wednesday, Dassault Systemes S.A. ( | | | ), a manufacturer of integrated software products, and International Business Machines Corp.

( | | | ), an information technology company, revealed that long term CATIA user Lotus Cars has expanded its design tools to include a full range of PLM solutions for end-to-end product creation. The company said that Lotus Cars intends to implement CATIA V5 for design excellence, DELMIA for production performance, and ENOVIA SmarTeam for collaborative product data management. The company noted this would build efficiency, ROI, and happier customers ultimately.

According to the company, before the implementation of CATIA V5, DELMIA and ENOVIA, it took more man power and time to complete the customer's requirements. But after the implementation the company turned around a new vehicle layout in under 24 hours. Dave Balcombe, head of Information Management at Lotus, happily said, "The customer proposed the idea at the end of one day, and we presented the project the next- at a 9:30 a.

m. meeting." DELMIA, as per the company, provides an integrated virtual manufacturing environment that is used by engineers to quickly spot issues and find solutions- before production, saving time and money.

This, said the company, has reduced the number of physical prototypes Lotus requires to validate vehicle assembly. The company noted that ENOVIA SmarTeam centralizes data and organizes intelligence into nodes, linked to different vehicle zones. As a result, when Lotus engineers begin a new vehicle design, they can get a head start by transferring knowledge nodes to the next model.

DASTY closed Tuesday's regular trading session at $54.70, up $0.81 or 1.
