HOUSTON, Texas, Oct. 9 / / -- One of the largest faith celebrations ever presented in Texas wrapped up Sunday night, October 8th, at Houston rsquo;s Eleanor Tinsley Park after two days of ldquo;CityFest Houston with Luis Palau. rdquo; Festival organizers set the weekend attendance at 225,000.
The Luis Palau Festival format that has filled beaches, parks and plazas around the world combined heart- stopping action from the Livin It Action Sports Tour, a massive Kids rsquo; Zone, an interactive sports area, a custom motorcycle show, and community services ranging from health and dental care to food collection for the hungry. Some of the top artists in contemporary Christian, pop and country music performed, including Wynonna Judd, Chris Tomlin, Kirk Franklin and Michelle Williams. For the first time, the Palau team added a Hispanic element featuring top Latin artists ldquo;El Puma rdquo; Rodriguez and Marcos Witt.
Luis Palau, who has shared the Gospel message of hope face-to-face to over 21 million people in 70 countries, was touched by the massive turnout.
ldquo;We were blessed by Houston in so many ways, rdquo; said Palau. ldquo;From major sponsors like the Texans and Astros to the city rsquo;s beautiful park to the thousands of volunteers who worked so hard, CityFest was truly a project bathed in love and purpose.
rdquo;
ldquo;It was an incredible weekend with Houston providing the perfect venue and perfect weather, rdquo; said festival director Rachel Quan. ldquo;The church community joined the business community in supporting the event financially and prayerfully, and the city brought all their resources to make sure the event was safe and successful. rdquo;
Palau rsquo;s next major U.
S. festival is set for early March in Tampa, Florida, followed by Omaha, Dallas and Nashville. He recently completed trips to China and Western Europe, and is planning international festivals in Mexico, Spain, and South America.
