LEAGUE CITY - A local doctor was suspended today by the Texas Medical Board after testing positive for cocaine.
Dr. Omar Shadman, 34, was suspended by the medical board's disciplinary panel after determining that Shadman's continued practice of medicine would be a threat to the public said Jill Wiggins, a spokeswoman for the Texas Medical Board.

Shadman, an anesthesiologist licensed to practice in Texas since August 2003, tested positive for cocaine on Sept. 15, Wiggins said.
Shadman's suspension is effective immediately and is indefinite.

Efforts to reach Shadman by phone were unsuccessful.
