Celtic chief Peter Lawwell has warned Shaun Maloney they won't be held to ransom over new contract talks. Maloney's future was raised from the floor at Celtic's annual general meeting at Parkhead yesterday and Lawwell said: "Shaun is a player we see as being part of Celtic's future, but we can't keep players at any cost. "We can't compromise in terms of our plans on how to run the club in the long term.
"We initiated negotiations with Shaun and his then agent, Mel Stein, in February and we were getting on well. Shaun then changed agents [to John Halliwell] during the process and here we are in October still looking for a deal. We are willing and able to talk at any time.
