NEW YORK, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Pop culture icon and self-professed "pack rat" Dick Clark is putting Paul McCartney s bass and Michael Jackson s glove on the auction block in New York.
Clark s vast collection of memorabilia -- to be auctioned Dec.
5 and 6 at Lincoln Center -- also includes a guitar played by Bruce Springsteen, Madonna s bustier and the harmonica Bob Dylan played in the Martin Scorsese film "The Last Waltz," The New York Times reported Wednesday.
Most of the money raised during the sale, conducted by Guernsey s auction house, will benefit the music industry s T. J.
Martell Foundation, which supports AIDS and cancer research.
The microphone Clark used for his first "American Bandstand" TV show on July 9, 1956, could fetch anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000, the newspaper said.
"It s tough to part with that one," Clark, 76, told the Times by phone.
"I held it every day for about three hours.
"I could tuck it under my arm and continue to use my hands and it saw every famous rock n roller that was ever born.
