(10/15/2007) By Robert Price The people of Hastings can expect to hear plenty of country music around town this week. It is time for the 27th annual Nebraska Country Music Festival. The Country MusicFest is officially underway, and one of the first events was a showcase at the Kensington.
Most other activities will take place at the Adams County Fairgrounds. Highlights include songwriting seminars, booths and vendors, and of course, lots of performances. In fact, organizers say this could be the biggest year ever for the festival.
"It is overwhelming to be responsible for this type of activity for Hastings. We are bringing in a lot of people to Hastings and we are just really anxious to have a good year," said Deb Shaw, Nebraska Country Music Foundation. Organizers expect more than a hundred performers to show off their talents during the week.
The festival wraps up Saturday with an awards banquet at the Fairgrounds.
