On October 11, Zomba Label Group , a subsidiary of BMG, of which Britney Spears ' Jive Records is a part, filed a copyright infringement law suit against celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, real name Mario Lavandeira, for illegally obtaining and posting at least 10 finished and demo songs. The suit was filed in the US District Court in Los Angeles. The monetary damages were not specified though, "real and punitive damages as well as legal cost" are requested.
Yesterday, an incomplete version of Britney Spears ' new album, Blackout , was leaked on to the internet, Fox News columnist Roger Friedman reported. The leaked version lacked certain tracks scheduled to appear on the album, tracks like "Pieces of Me" which details Britney's experiences with the Paparazzi and "Heaven On Earth". Jive records, in an effort to stem the tide of uploads and leaks pushed the release of the album up from the original November 13th release date to October 30th.
It also scheduled a live listening session of the new album this coming Monday for the press. Last week, her video for "Gimme More" leaked on the internet and was promptly pulled down. Zomba clearly indicates that Britney Spears is not involved in the case.
