He has sold over 22 million records in the U.S. alone.
After a three year break from the music scene, he has come back to take his throne releasing Rock'n'Roll Jesus . He offers straight ahead guitar driven tracks, acoustic layers, and an alternative country rock sound as the record rocks and rolls its way to the last song. The record explodes with the title track "Rock'n'Roll Jesus" which sets the standard high for what is to follow.
It's a celebration of rock and roll that makes one want to crank up the volume and dance. The next song takes the rock down a notch and he breaks down with an acoustic guitar on "Amen." He addresses a lot of wrong and concerns, hoping to open the mind of people.
In a world where wars rage on, kids shoot each other, but love is the ultimate savior in any form. "Amen" allows us to see a gospel side of Kid Rock as his background choir joins in chanting "amen" over and over. Kid Rock may be notorious for his hip-hop rock sound, but has also acquired a country flavor years with his hit "Picture.
" "New Orleans" takes that sound to a higher level. At a honky tonk rock level, he reminisces over the Southern feeling of New Orleans. What is incredible about Kid Rock is his ability to change voice.
"New Orleans" is an upbeat track overdubbed by a blues rock voice, evident of his passion for what he is singing. "So Hott" takes us back to some harder edge. Primarily consisting of heavily distorted guitars, he sings of an attraction "so hott.
" Based on the explicit lyrics, it's a strong attraction at that. "Because you know you're so hot/ I wanna get you alone/ You're so hot/ I wanna get you stoned/ You're so hot/ I don't wanna be your friend/ I wanna ---- you like I'm never gonna see you again" he rants on. As hard as the track may be and inappropriate for younger Kid Rock fans, "So Hott" is one of the standout tracks.
"Sugar" tricks us thinking it's a soft acoustic song. When the acoustic evolves into electric, it sounds like a second part to the past hit "Cowboy" musically. This is yet another foul mouthed song, but great to blast out of the speakers.
