So I hear that Motley Crue is releasing a live CD/DVD combo to capitalize on Christmas this year. Perfect, another bunch of rock dinosaurs hanging on far too long. The problem is that when you go see them live you can get caught up in the moment for 2 hours and be genuinely excited about it, but when you have it in front of you on CD, captured forever you will quickly realize this is not the same Motley Crue you grew up banging your head too.

These are mid forties Dad s trying to relive their old glory. Don t get me wrong, I loved Motley Crue the first time, but with all the garbage that has surrounded them as of late it is simply time to call it a day. I LOVED Motley Crue because they were cool enough to wear make-up, spandex, and some of the lamest outfits ever and still get chicks!

Vince Neil has traded the white leather pants for Bermuda shorts and visor so metal dude! Tommy Lee is a radical DJ, Mick Mars looks like a walking corpse (and no offence to him, is this really necessary given how poorly his condition has worsened, and Nikki Sixx is Nikki Sixx, using big words to try and pass himself off as smart and experienced (not the Nikki Sixx I want to see, sorry). The guys in the band hate each other and lets be honest, their 2005 tour absolutely sucked.

The industry should be ashamed as well as they are spending money they could be using cultivating new and actually exciting bands to produce this steaming pile. I have always held strong that once the Rolling Stones actually die, the music industry will expand exponentially as they presently hold such a high spot at the top of the food chain, their continued career is actually detracting from the development of new and talented acts because it consumes so much of the financial resources available. While not nearly on that level, The Crue occupy a lofty spot of their own.

They too prevent new bands from getting a chance simply by existing. This leaves us forced to listen to Nickelback and Creed and all that other generic shit being rammed down our throats. Thanks a lot guys!

So throw in your worn out copy of Too Fast For Love and rock out to the Crue the way we should remember them; Young, tough and self destructive. This seems to be a recurring theme amongst 80 s hair metal/hard rock bands from LA; once they mature and domesticate they are irrelevant, yet they just keep hanging on.
