I reckon that we definitely need a statue of local Fitzroy legend and identity Grant McCracken. If you ever walk down to the corner of Brunswick and Rose streets on a Saturday he'll say gooday (always with a smile and direct you to the Rose street artists market. He'll never try and push his #@8% on you, and if you earn his respect, he'll let you hear The Sham Cabaret.
His music is as important as anything that you'll currently hear on the radio and is written without any pretense or need to sell popular spiritulistic ideals. I think Grant is one of the purist artists that I've ever met (aside from myself that is) and totally committed to his work. I'm certain that anybody who has met him will agree.
