The Beatles were connoisseurs of imagination. If Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr approved of the film "Across The Universe," it should be a message to everyone that it is worth seeing. The actors, whilst being brilliant in their respective roles, have some killer pipes.

ACROSS THE UNIVERSE Verdict: Beatles buffs dig originality, and this album is right up their alley. While still keeping the authenticity of the lyrics, the artists were able to put their own brilliant spin on the songs they sang. Every piece is performed with such enthusiasm and originality that it's hard to dismiss, even if it doesn't fall under the genre of your liking.

This diversity makes the music from the motion picture an eclectic mix of different music styles, including a jazzy "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and a gospel "Let It Be." Celebrity voices, including Secret Machines, Bono and Joe Cocker appear in the film, as well as on the soundtrack. Songs such as "Dear Prudence," "With A Little Help From My Friends," "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and many others were in the movie but did not make it on the disc.

This should not be seen as degrading though, since the CD is filled to capacity, and all of the performances in the film literally were out of this world.
