I remember when my brother bought Jimi's first single, Hey Joe, and we sat around and listened to the B-side (Stone Free). I remember the feeling i had at the time, as a 13-year-old: I just couldn't categorise the music. I knew it was exciting, but I'd never heard anything like it before, and didn't quite know what to make of it.

By the time I had heard the first two albums, i was a rock-solid Hendrix fan. Out of all the great rock stars who crashed and burned, his is the greatest loss, because he was like Dylan - he kept evolving. If he had been playing for longer, he would have given us so much.

I still remember the sadness, disbelief and loss I felt when I heard on the radio that Jimi had died. I think my life was changed forever.
