On Friday, October 5, the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra will kick off the 2007-08 season with a Beatles tribute concert performed with nine-piece rock band, The Rewinders. The performance will take place at World Outreach Church and begins at 8 p.m.

and is sponsored by SunTrust and The Aquatic Critter. “This is our first concert season in Murfreesboro and we’re excited to start it off with one of our most successful performances,” explains Jeffrey A. Reed, music director of the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra.

“This show really bridges the gaps between traditional orchestral music and pops.” Retromadness: The Music of the Beatles features record copies of the original Beatles recordings. “People might not be aware that the Beatles’ music became so complicated in later years that the band could not perform it live.

In our concerts, we attempt to sound as close as possible to the original Beatles recordings. That’s why it takes nine band members and an orchestra to perform the music,” says Reed. The Rewinders and Reed performed the show with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra as part of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival grand finale in 2006.

“Over 10,000 people attended the concert which, according to organizers, was the largest finale audience in the 30 years of the festival’s existence,” said Reed. “The festival’s founder also said that she received mail saying that it was the best finale they had ever had.” In addition to South Carolina, Reed and the band have performed the show to sell-out crowds in Kentucky.

Tickets for the show are available by calling the orchestra office at (615) 898-1862, by stopping by the orchestra’s office at 210 East Main Street, Suite 106, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.

m., or by visiting their website. Tickets are general admission and are $35.

00 each.
