First APEC protest vocal, but peaceful

With a heavy police presence, the first major APEC protest has passed without incident as hundreds of people demonstrated in central Sydney. A protest by the Stop Bush Coalition at Railway Square near Sydney's Central Station has heard from political activists, even an Iraq war veteran and many others. None are happy about the arrival of the US President.

Hundreds of people marched through central Sydney as part of the protest. Despite the vocal nature of the demonstration there's been no intervention from the 50 or so police in attendance. The group is still planning to stage another demonstration in the city's Martin Place on Saturday.

Anna Samson from the Stop Bush Coalition says she's still concerned about police intervention and that they haven't negotiated in good faith. "They intend to stop political people demonstrations from happening, even if a court permits it to happen.
