Boston, MA - April 12, 2004 -- Popular culture is vastly influencing our teenagers as a whole with its glorifying message of glamour, tattoos, body piercing, promiscuity, baggy pants, stylish sneakers, and rebellious music. David Kupelian, vice president and managing editor of WorldNetDaily.com places the influence of pop culture into three classes: ?

the gangsta generation, merchants of cool, and MTV.? Christian teens have to deal with these influences of pop culture while on the other hand trying to influence the culture around them and their peers with their Christian ethics, beliefs, and value system.

Pop culture?s message to teenage guys is ?being a gangster is cool.

Go ahead, wear your pants down around your ankles, show off your brightly colored underwear, get tattoos, piercings, and wear your bandanas in school. Disrespect your teachers and parents to let them know you can stand on your own.?

Pop culture?s message to the girls is ?looks are everything.

If your wardrobe is plain, do whatever it takes to get the newest, hip-hop, happening, designer wear. Are the guys at school not noticing you? The solution is to show a little more skin.

? Popular culture has a whole different standard of right and wrong, decent and indecent, crude and modest.

The message for Christian teenagers is much different and is based solely on the Bible and the teachings of Christ.

Popular Culture says that one must follow its pattern to fit in. The Bible calls for Christian teens to stand out and be different. Popular culture wants to influence a teenager?

s life. The message of the Bible calls for Christian teens to influence the culture around them. Christian teens are called to be the image of God and not the image of the world.

Yes, Christian teens may find it difficult to live a holy, Christian life in this world, but they can do it because the God who called them has also empowered them to live for Him.

We, who are ministers of the Gospel of Christ, must continue to remind our Christian teenagers to live for Christ, no matter what the cost. They must continually bear the image of their Father in heaven, so that their peers may know that surely there is a God.

This ministry was started for the sole purpose of encouraging Christian teens to continually live the Christian life in a world that may not accept their message and/or belief and to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
