Brad Boice has successfully impersonated Elvis Presley. Now, he will attempt to impersonate another rock music legend: Albert Lea s own Eddie Cochran. Boice will headline the DC Drifters Eddie Cochran Summertime Blues Concert this weekend at the Albert Lea Civic Theater.
Two performances are scheduled 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Boice, who lives i Chatfield, has consistently won Elvis Presley impersonation contests wherever he goes, including Las Vegas. He has appeared at the 2007 Mower County Fair and on stage with the DC Drifters and their golden age of rock n roll music shows. Cochran lived in Albert Lea until he was 14 years of age and moved away with his family.
His rockabilly hits, including Summertime Blues and Sittin in the Balcony earned him inclusion posthumously in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio after his death in a car accident in Great Britain in 1960. Each summer, the city of Albert Lea celebrates Eddie Cochran Days, which is not affiliated with this weekend s concert performances. Tickets for the two performances this weekend are 15 for adults and 10 for seniors and students.
Tickets may be reserved by calling (507) 377-4372 or purchased at Apold Music in Austin or Doyle Hallmark in Northbridge Mall, Albert Lea. Sponsors include Power 96 Classic Rock, KOWZ Radio 100.0 FM and Sundal Instant Printing of Austin.
