More Champions League > He underwent surgery on Sunday and reports suggest Terry is anxious to play in Wednesday's European tie. The England skipper would probably have to wear a protective mask in the Mestalla, and Chelsea say no decision has yet been made on his participation.
"John Terry underwent an operation on Sunday morning on a depressed fracture to his right cheekbone," read a statement on the club's website. "His availability for Valencia will be assessed over the next few days following the surgery." Blues assistant Clarke, meanwhile, is reportedly set to leave the club.
Clarke is apparently disillusioned with life at Stamford Bridge since Mourinho's departure last month. While the majority of Mourinho's coaching staff left with him, Clarke was retained to work alongside Avram Grant. However, according to The Guardian, Clarke was unhappy with the manner of Mourinho's departure, and is mindful that Grant wants to bring in his own backroom staff in the next international break.
Clarke will therefore end his long association with the club after the trip to Bolton next Sunday.
