The White Stripes have returned to the stage for their first live performance in two years.

Jack and Meg White took to the stage at the Cannery Ballroom in Nashville, Tennessee to play to a sold out audience.

The gig was held in order to showcase their forthcoming album Icky Thump, in addition to them playing a series of tracks from their previous five albums.

According to NME, before finishing their set, Jack White disappeared and came back for the encore with a Polaroid camera, which he then used to take pictures of the crowd.

The new White Stripes single will be released on June 6.
