Linkin Park
To no one's surprise, Linkin Park's Minutes To Midnight had a huge sales debut this week. The band's third studio album bowed at #1 and sold almost 623,000 copies, according to SoundScan, easily topping the #2 entry on the chart, Tank's Sex, Love Pain. Not only did the new LP CD go Gold in one week, but it is also the highest first week sales number of 2007.

One week after its international release, the album has also debuted at #1 in the U.K., Germany, France, Switzerland, Norway, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Philippines, Italy, Sweden, Austria and Ireland, and it's certified Platinum in Australia, Canada, Indonesia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Austria, Switzerland and France.

Minutes To Midnight has been certified Gold in the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand and the U.K. "We're shocked and humbled by this extraordinary show of support," said guitarist Brad Delson.

"We invested ourselves entirely into the creation of this album, with the hope that this music would resonate with our fans as deeply as it does with us. We couldn't be more excited about today's news." Elsewhere on the sales chart, Wilco earns its biggest charting and sales week yet, as Sky Blue Sky bows at #4 with 87,000 copies sold.

Country singer Gretchen Wilson's third effort, One of the Boys, enters at #5 by selling 73,000 copies. Metal stalwarts Megadeth debuted at #8, moving 54,000 units of United Abominations. It marks the band's first Top 10 album in 13 years.

Other big debuts this week include Rufus Wainwright's Release the Stars, which earns him his best charting and sales week ever with 24,000 at #23, and Pink Martini's Hey Eugene!, which debuts at #30 with 19,000 copies sold.
