Tuesday in Paris, the Smashing Pumpkins made their long-awaited return to the stage, as Billy Corgan unveiled the new version of his band. As rumored, Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin were backed by new members Jeff Schroeder on guitar, Ginger Reyes on bass and keyboard player Lisa Harriton. It is still unknown if any of the musicians played on the new album, Zeitgeist (due out on July 10).
For the first Pumpkins show since December of 2000, Corgan co. debuted a number of new songs alongside classics such as "Cherub Rock," "Today," "Disarm" and "1979."
The band also took the opportunity to launch the new , which promises interactive content from fans, who are encouraged to upload news, video and photos to the site.
The tour continues tomorrow night in Luxembourg, with a number of European festival dates into mid-June. The Smashing Pumpkins' nine-show residency in Asheville, NC kicks off on June 23.
