Close on their heels for the 18th annual music video awards gala are two hip hop artists who picked up four nominations each: perennial favourite k-os and newcomer Belly, a Palestinian-born, Ottawa-raised rapper set to release his debut full-length album.
Belly's nominations come for his single Pressure, which features a cameo from Ginuwine, while k-os is being honoured for songs like Sunday Morning and ELEctrik HeaT – the seekwiLL.
Other multiple nominees include Three Days Grace, Alexisonfire, Finger Eleven, George, Sam Roberts, Hedley, JDiggz and Nelly Furtado.


U.S. chart-toppers Eminem, Beyoncé Knowles, Gwen Stefani, Ludacris, Pussycat Dolls, Fall Out Boy and Justin Timberlake are among the international artists and bands vying for MMVAs.


Altogether, organizers will present trophies in 17 categories, with four decided by the public through online or text-message voting: favourite international group, favourite international artist, favourite Canadian group and favourite Canadian artist.
All winners will be announced on June 17 at the performance-packed MuchMusic Video Awards ceremony, which typically spills out onto the downtown Toronto intersection outside the MuchMusic headquarters and draws thousands of screaming music fans.
