A large international audience is expected to attend Joseph Calleja's 10th anniversary concert being held on July 7 in Mdina. Such is the demand for Joseph Calleja's performances that opera aficionados from all over the world have booked seats on-line to attend this concert. The organisers of the concert, Renaissance Productions Ltd, stated that they were astounded by the way the tickets were snapped up even before the marketing campaign has commenced.
The concert, with a maximum capacity of 3000 seats, was virtually sold out in the first few weeks. RPL directors Dr. Anton Tabone and Amabile Zammit said that "this is ample proof of the public's appreciation of Joseph's golden voice.
The Maltese public is also expressing its support and encouragement to Joseph for making Malta so proud wherever he performs around the world. Malta is indeed fortunate to have such a formidable personality representing us with such fame and dignity. The Mdina concert is planned to be another showcase of Joseph Calleja's extraordinary talent and vast repertoire.
" Joseph Calleja has had a successful year since his last concert organised in Malta in July of 2006. This year he has performed in some of the world's greatest opera theatres like the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City and The Vienna State Opera House. Maltese celebrity and international conductor Brian Schembri is definitely an added attraction for the Maltese public and will add further flair and class to the program.
He will be conducting the prestigious 66-member National Opera Sofia. The Mirabitur Choir, under the musical direction of Simone Attard will complete the elements of the program. The main sponsors for the concert are Maltacom Group, HSBC Bank Malta and Jaguar.
