Visitors will be able to record versions of their favourite ABBA songs.

12:55PM Wednesday May 23, 2007 STOCKHOLM - A museum about pop legends ABBA is to be housed in a prime waterfront site in the Swedish capital and will open in 2009, organisers have said.
They said they had chosen a former customs house close to the city centre for the museum devoted to the band, whose songs remain popular, though their last album came out 20 years ago.

The four members of the band, Agnetha Faltskog, Anni-Frid Reuss, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus have endorsed the project, though they are not taking part in it directly.
The plan for a museum was launched in November last year.
"The doors will open in 2009," Ewa Wigenheim-Westman, who hatched the idea with Ulf Westman, told a news conference.

The building was constructed between 1906 and 1910, but will be fully modernized for the museum.
They went on to become Sweden's biggest export with such hit songs as Dancing Queen and Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight). The group sold around 370 million records in total.

Stockholm also hopes the museum will be a magnet for tourists, said mayor Kristina Axen Ollin.
"It is really good that it is now clear where the ABBA museum will be," she said. The museum is planned to cover 4,000 square meters and spread over three floors.

As well as original clothing loaned by the group, it will show the ABBA history with pictures and music.
Westman said there would also be many interactive attractions, including visitors being able to record their own versions of ABBA songs.
The organisers got the idea after visiting a Beatles museum in Liverpool.

Andersson, when asked about the plan, first said no. However, he finally agreed to mention the idea to his former band mates and the response after a few weeks was positive.
