Chelsea have moved closer to receiving compensation from Adrian Mutu after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled the former Blues striker will have to pay a FIFA determined amount to the club for breaching the terms of his contract.
The Romania international striker, who cost the Blues 15million when he moved from Parma, was sacked in 2004 after testing positive for cocaine.
But after the 28-year-old signed for Juventus on a free transfer during his seven-month ban, Chelsea called on FIFA to intervene and force Mutu to pay compensation for breach of contract.

The game's governing body claimed they had no jurisdiction to make any ruling, but Chelsea appealed to CAS, who have now backed their claim.
"CAS has upheld the appeal filed by Chelsea FC against a decision rendered on 26 October 2006 by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) concerning the Romanian football player Adrian Mutu," confirmed a statement from the Lausanne-based court.
