Six-year-old piano prodigy Ethan Bortnick will appear this evening on NBC-TV's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He is set to perform a Bach minuet, Mozart's Ronda alla turca, Scott Joplin's piano rag The Entertainer and a composition of his own.
Bortnick, who lives with his parents in south Florida, reportedly began reading at age two and began to memorize and play music by ear not long afterwards.
He has since begun formal lessons and now reads music; a release from his management says that he knows more than 200 pieces; he has taken prizes in several youth competitions. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno normally airs at 11:30 p.m.
