"Well on its way to defining mdash;or redefining--the modern brass jazz ensemble.

" Andrea Canter, .
Snowblind came together in 2005 on a mission to create good music. They chase the communal ideal of the jazz band: a group where all members are equal, share a musical vision, and rehearse relentlessly.

Music in the tradition of jazz masters such as Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, and Art Blakey served as a natural starting point. The band added their own touch from the very beginning: from inventive reharmonizations and textures behind jazz standards, to original compositions inspired by jazz classics. Snowblind rsquo;s first release, (2006) , serves as the band rsquo;s quirky homage to these influences.

After their initial CD release, Snowblind shaped their artistic vision during performances at The Dakota, The Artists rsquo; Quarter, and the Twin Cities Hot Summer Jazz Festival. The ten original tracks on their second CD, Taking Shape, extend the full-bodied brass sound they embrace from jazz into Latin, classical, and groove-oriented compositions. Taking shape has been praised by critics.
