by on Saturday, April 28, 2007 (09:12:48) Once the Bulls settled down and overcame their jittery start, it was a superb performance - thankfully a far cry from the brand of rugby that they started the campaign playing.
One point I d just like to mention that no one else seems to notice (not even the SA commentators) is the enormous number of forward passes that are allowed to go unpunished by the refs. There was one passage of Blues play last night ,when the commentators were drooling ecstatically about their wonderful handling skills and attacking flair, when I counted 3 or 4 forward passes in that one 10-20 second passage.

By allowing these forward passes, the refs are favouring the teams that play, flat attacking back play to get over the advantage line, i.e. the New Zealand teams.

They seem to get away with it the most, and so benefit from it the most, because they throw so many more passes that are flat.
Granted the Sharks also play flat, and a few of their tries have also involved forward passes, but it is not as frequent.
So come on refs, stop allowing the NZ teams an unfair advantage, and let s all play to the same rules.

by on Saturday, April 28, 2007 (14:08:59) not to mention the penalty Mr Dickinson gave against Derick for apparantely not rolling away. How much more did he want him to roll away, he was at least 3 metres away from the ball.
For too long NZ and Aus teams have gotten away with errors that inevtibaly cost SA teams the game.

Someone has to now step in and defend our teams from these biased referees.
