Now that Paris Hilton is destined for 45 days in the hole, news comes that the man that Paris partially blames, publicist Elliot Mintz, is falling on his sword and taking the blame for her "not understanding" she cannot drive on a suspended license. Mintz has been fired by the hotel heiress, and spokesperson-less Paris Hilton has commented on the jail term on her own, describing her punishment as cruel and unwarranted.
Paris Hilton wept as she was sentenced to 45 days in jail in a suburban Los Angeles lock up.
Her mother voiced her displeasure at the judge and legal system that targeted her daughter, according to her.
At the hearing, Paris Hilton laid blame on Elliot Mintz who she said told her that it was okay to drive for work-related reasons.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer rejected the claim that Paris Hilton thought she was allowed to drive and ordered her to turn herself in by June 5th.
Saturday, Hilton spoke to photographers, and according to Reuters, Hilton said: "I told the truth. I feel that I was treated unfairly and that the sentence is both cruel and unwarranted. I don't deserve this.
"
The Associated Press reports that, at the hearing, Paris Hilton tried to convince the judge that she only followed the orders of her publicist.
Paris Hilton told the judge, when asked if she read the mail sent to her about the license suspension, "I have people who do that for me. I just sign what people tell me to sign.
"
Powerhouse attorney Howard Weitzman has already filed an appeal to try and get the sentence handed down to his client reduced.
Elliot Mintz took the stand to testify on behalf of Paris Hilton, but, according to Reuters, his testimony was rejected as worthless by the judge.
Mintz told TMZ on Sunday that he was deeply and profoundly sorry for giving Paris Hilton bad advice.
He told the site, "Due to this misunderstanding, I am no longer representing Paris. For the record, I have nothing but love and respect for Paris and her family. Paris is a wonderful person and does not deserve the punishment that was handed down by the court.
I only wish her my best."
In September, Paris Hilton was arrested for DUI and, after pleading no contest in January, Paris was sentenced to three years probation and had her license suspended.
One month later Hilton was popped driving at night without her headlights on.
When she was pulled over, police impounded her blue Bentley and charged her with driving without a valid license, which violated her probation and landed her the 45-day jail sentence.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Drive drunk ~ pay the price you spoiled brat!
!

If this were someone without money, it wouldn't be an issue.
They'd go straight to jail without passing go.
The law applies to everyone, including the privileged.
Poor little rich girl got what she deserved and in true Paris form, blames everybody else but herself.
I wonder if any of the other drivers who were on the same road as the drunken tramp were on their way to stay at the nearest Hilton?
Hopefully she will grow up while in jail..
...
naw, she won't.
