At the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, eight-year-old Bindi father, "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin, last month.
Wearing khaki shorts and shirt in honour of her father, sneakers and yellow socks, and with her crimped hair pulled into ponytails, Bindi was accompanied by her mother, Terri, and her manager, John Stainton.


Australian Artist, she said of her father: "It's kind of sad that he couldn't be here but it's nice that I can be here to do it." She and her father, who died from a stingray attack while filming an underwater documentary, had promised to present the awards three months ago. Mr Stainton asked Bindi two weeks ago if she still wanted to present the award.


She greeted the crowd and then signed autographs, with her mother looking on. Bindi said she was looking forward to meeting the host, Sophie Monk.
As the crowd cried out for Bindi, the Irwins gave the award for Favourite Aussie to Sebastian.


"Isn't this great?" Bindi said. "I'm the smallest presenter but I get to give the biggest award.

" Along with the singer, she got drenched with green slime tipped from the ceiling.
At the end of the night, Bindi and her mother walked on stage and raised their hands in the air, calling "Crocs rule!".
