The eagerly anticipated Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten documentary features a soundtrack to also look forward to.
There's music from The Clash, Strummer's pre-Clash band the 101ers, solo tracks, a number from his Latino Rockabilly War project and cuts from his final group, The Mescaleros. The album, due May 15 via Sony BMG, is filled out by songs from the likes of Elvis Presley, MC5, Eddie Cochrane, U Roy, Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan that Strummer played on his BBC World Service radio show in the late '90s.

The Julien Temple-directed film premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival and will open in select theatres on May 18. It features previously unseen Clash footage and interviews with Mick Jones, Topper Headon, Bono, Martin Scorsese and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Temple was part of the British punk scene in the '70s and made his feature film debut with 1979's Sex Pistols film, The Great Rock And Roll Swindle.
