Welcome back, Walkmen, from the plodding exile of Pussy Cats and (most of) A Hundred Miles Off! This is the band we fell in love with all those years ago, when we first heard The Rat or Wake Up : Hamilton Leithauser stumbling through the wreckage of a crashing rhythm section and clarion guitar notes, snarling I woke up in the trenches, I left the dead behind. The best part?
This is the second single from the Spiderman 3 soundtrack, which means we get to hear it blasting from multiplex speakers all summer long! No idea if the song s actually in the movie (seems like more of an opening credits kind of thing to me), but if it is, I hope it s in a scene where Tobey Maguire gets really drunk and wanders around shouting obscenities at the moon before passing out in an alleyway in a pool of his own vomit. All while wearing his Spiderman suit, of course.
Because that would be awesome. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs Sealings will probably be in ten seconds of a chase scene that just serves to get the main characters from one point to another. Basically, it s all flash, bang.
..whatever.
Pretty generic blockbuster alt-rock, like one of the lesser cuts from The Crow 2: City of Angels. Be careful, Yeah Yeah Yeahs! Remember what happened to Pet and NY Loose?
You don t? Exactly.
