I just want to say I really appreciate all the interesting folks dropping by and sharing their opinions. We're really starting to get a cool cross section of online hip hop in the ProHipHop comments, from some of the real stars of hip hop blogging to folks that are just getting their name out there through their online activities.
If you've just been checking the posts, be sure to check the comments for topics that interest you.
A large number of these people have websites and, if they do, their names will link through to their sites.
If you do the read the comments, you'll see that it's usually not about everybody agreeing, but it is about people caring about and thinking about what they say. And that means a lot to me.
Thanks!
Posted by Clyde on May 19, 2006 in Last week I started a series of thank you posts and I will continue that soon but I have to drop in with a special edition to thank everybody that responds positively to me when the going gets rough.
First, thanks to Bruce Houghton of Hypebot for addressing the concerns of hip hop bloggers as well as to my fellow hip hop bloggers who responded when I .
Thanks to everybody that sends me releases for , especially those whose releases get mangled during the transfer to Blogger. I'll be shifting platforms later this year in order to address that issue and Hip Hop Press will become an even better free outlet for your press releases.
Also, a deep thanks to all those North Carolina hip hop artists who've reached out yet were ignored during my now over a year long absence at .
I'll be back before long, the site will be updated and there's even the possiblity that others will become involved and it will become an even better resource.
And, finally, thanks to everybody else that didn't get shook when I misinterpreted a situation in which they were involved and/or implicated. I'm not lashing out like back in the day but I still seem to have a bit of an edge.
I'll be back with more thanks soon because I've got a lot for which to be thankful.
Posted by Clyde on February 27, 2006 in I want to start the week with shout outs to the folks that made ProHipHop's first full week in action a surprisingly gratifying experience.
Special thanks go to the hip hop bloggers who know me from earlier projects and mentioned me in their blogs or sent mail.
In particular, I want to thank for being someone with whom I can discuss what I'm doing and what I hope to do without having to explain much of anything about topics like hip hop, weblogs, online journalism, domain mapping and why I moved across the country when I got an offer of (relatively) cheap rent.
Lucy Beer, of , helped me get the early word out to a variety of sources, from online hip hop publications to publicists for hip hop businesses.
I also want to thank , an award-winning hip hop artist from Brasil who also has a company named ProHipHop.
Rather than lashing out at someone displacing him from the search engine rankings, an option many artists and businessmen in almost any field might choose, he reached out without any demands to see what ties were possible. I look forward to the possibility of interviewing Cabal and finding out about the difficulties of music enterpreneurship in Brasil for my upcoming interview series tentatively titled, "Talking Hip Hop Business."
ProHipHop has many challenges ahead and I have much to learn.
I look forward to being schooled by business people, hip hop people and hip hop business people. It's on!
