Simpson and Lachey at The Dukes of Hazzard Los Angeles Premiere

Jessica Simpson on Her 'Daisy Dukes': For the uninitiated, Daisy Dukes are the nickname given to the ever so short shorts sported by Catherine Bach in the Dukes of Hazzard TV series. It's also the name of the character Bach played, and that Jessica Simpson brings to life in the of the classic series. We ended up cutting off a pair of jeans to make them perfect and Jay [Chandrasekhar, the director] kept saying he wanted them a little bit shorter.

I m thinking to myself, 'You wear these things!' He promised he would by the end of the shoot. And Chandrasekhar kept his promise.

Simpson said, I put lotion on his legs and he put them on (laughing). Nick Lachey on Jessica Simpson in Her Daisy Dukes: That s what the role s about and she pulled it off. I m proud of her.

Lachey on Men Getting a Kick Out of Simpson in Her Shorts: It can't be easy to hear men hooting over your wife. But Lachey seems to be taking it in stride. That s the point and she pulls it off.

I ve already seen the video of it in bars when the videos come on and the guys are hooting and hollering. I get this every day so I m the lucky one in the deal. If everyone else can appreciate what I get to appreciate, then it s all good.

Simpson on The Dukes of Hazzard Bloopers: Is there anything she doesn't want her director to show the public? No, said Simpson, adding, I let him let out whatever he wants to. Are you kidding me?

I m famous for messing up (laughing). Jessica Simpson on Getting in Shape: Oh my gosh. I had to work out six days a week, two and a half hours a day.

I was on a South Beach diet. I cut sugar out. Trust me, when someone tells you you have to be in a red bikini on a big screen, every single girl in my place would go to the gym (laughing).

Donning the Shorts for the First Time: I was self-conscious. I had a robe over me. I didn't know really.

.. But I had to act and be Daisy Duke and walk with complete confidence like I was wearing a like a As Simpson reaches for the right word, Lachey interjects, She s like that every time on the beach.

Don t let her fool you (laughing). Simpson on Being the Clothing-Impaired Dukes Cast Member: It was definitely a male set. I was in a robe until I had to shoot.

I had to drop it right when Daisy Duke had to come out. I stayed covered up. Simpson on More Acting Jobs in the Future: I m actually working with Bill Gerber, the producer of 'Dukes,' on something where I end up joining the military.

It s kind of like 'Private Benjamin' in a way. It s called 'Major Movie Star.' Addressing All the Tabloid Rumors: It seems you can't pick up a magazine without there being a mention of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey's marriage.

Simpson says, At the end of the day we re madly in love and people will see that through the tabloids hopefully. It s going to be something new every week another fabricated story. But if you really read all the stories, it s the same thing every week.

Find something new! Lachey added, It s like, 'Surely this is going to be the last one This will be the last one.' And they just keep putting them out.

But I guess in some strange, twisted way it s a form of flattery in that people are interested in what s going on with us. But it is frustrating.
