Nick Lachey is now one-third owner of a minor league baseball team. The Tacoma Rainiers are the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners playing in the Pacific Coast League.
Nick Lachey
The pop singer was introduced yesterday with fellow co-owners and a plushie Moose named Rhubarb (in case you were wondering). "Baseball is a true passion of mine, Tacoma is a growing city and I have every intention of playing an active ownership role in the Rainiers as we continue to grow," said Nick.

Lachey first became interested in owning a baseball team when his hometown Cincinnati Reds went up for sale a few years ago, but that deal didn't happen. He will be involved in developing entertainment for families, including concerts and autograph sessions. Play ball!

Picture this -- Nick Lachey partying with his hot girlfriend in Las Vegas. Who wouldn't crack a smile?

Well, from what we can tell, the answer would be Nick.

Cameras caught Lachey scowling as girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo celebrated her birthday at TAO Nightclub this weekend. Lachey arrived late at around 1:30 AM, missing dinner, and we're told they left together at 3 AM.

Is there trouble in paradise or is it just an off night for Nick? You decide.

The question on everyone's lips after about the financial settlement was naturally: Who came out on top? From a purely financial standpoint, Jessica may have won the battle, with a far bigger stake of the couple's estate. But who's really winning the post-split war -- if it can be called that -- between the two former "Newlyweds," not just in money, but in love, family, and career?

We've done a breakdown of the two stars' lives to see who's going to be the true winner in this relationship when all is said and done.

REBOUND ROMANCE:
Nick: He started off with the mystery girl from Ohio, then there were a couple of outings with , and it seems as though he's found a steady in steamy -- she even met the family recently.

Jessica:
The cloud of rumor started over alleged homewrecker , then moved onto funnyman , and, then, last week, singer-songwriter .

ADVANTAGE: NICK. Things are not going your way in the love department when John Mayer calls you "desperate." As for Nick, moving on is always a good thing, especially when your facilitator is as hot as Vanessa is.

Jessica Simpson Nick LacheyTMZ has learned that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have divided up the assets in their marriage, and Nick agreed to less than his share in order to avoid an ugly court fight.

The couple amassed a fortune during their three-year marriage, in no small part because of their MTV reality show "Newlyweds" and the avalanche of endorsements and other deals that followed. Jessica refused to sign a prenuptial agreement, so under California law the assets -- estimated at $36 million -- are to be divided equally. So Jessica and Nick should each get $18.

Nick will take significantly more than the $1.5 million, but considerably less than 50%
As TMZ first reported, Jessica (we're told at the behest of her dad, Joe Simpson) offered Nick a relatively measly $1.5 million to walk away from the marriage.

Sources say Joe Simpson believed Nick didn't have the stomach to put up a fight over money. Nevertheless, Nick rejected the offer and the former sweethearts decided to make their divorce final and try to hammer out a property settlement.
Sources say in the property settlement -- which has not yet been filed in court -- Nick will take significantly more than the $1.

5 million, but considerably less than 50% of what he and Jessica earned during the marriage. Two sources in Nick's camp made it clear to TMZ that Lachey agreed to end the dispute because he does not want to hurt anyone in a contentious court battle.
Ironically last week, a reporter on a red carpet relayed a message from Joe and Jessica Simpson to Nick: "They love you.

You're still part of the family." Nick blanched and said "Well, good, that's nice to hear..

.." The reporter persisted ".

..Jessica will always love you.

" Nick's classic reply: "Okay, then!"

Things are getting ever more serious between and his summer squeeze Vanessa Minnillo, just as reports of heat up.

A TMZ spy who recently rode in an elevator with the pair at Minnillo's apartment building say they were "totally into each other," very affectionate with one another, and were oblivious to anyone around them, and Lachey has been spotted shacking up chez Minnillo regularly when he's in Manhattan. 2007 TMZ Productions, Inc.
