I don't see it too often and I think it will be done soon. It is just a commercial and is easy to ignore so I don't see what the big deal is about a commercial.

I've seen this commercial one time, and I thought it was a cute commercial. Taylor will continue to have a career, not because he won American Idol or because he did a car commercial, but because he is a singer/songwriter/musician who has been pounding the pavement for the past ten years. He's paid his dues.


I have not seen this commercial, but I must ask--whatever are you watching on summer tv that puts you in front of the little screen for hours and hours???

I LOVE the commercial and haven't tired of seeing it yet. I'm sure if Taylor reads this article, he'll be crying all the way to the bank. Taylor's new CD is going to be awesome.

Apparently he will be writing some of his own songs, and I've heard some of the ones he has written in the past. Great stuff. Very talented musician and singer -- plays guitar and harmonica.

Give the guy a chance. One commercial does not make or break a musician. Buy the next CD -- you won't be sorry.

I've seen this commerical maybe 3 or 4 times. The promotion ends this month, and then you'll probably never see it again.

I don't think this commercial will affect his album sales, and I doubt the song will appear on it.

FYI, Hicks didn't choose to be in the commercial, that slot was reserved for the winner of the competition, be it him or another contestant. Having won, he was obligated by contract to do the spot.


The ad is slated to run through the end of July, when the promotion for Ford ends. You have only a couple more weeks to "endure" the ad, or better yet, stop watching commercials.
BTW, I called three of the Ford dealerships in my area and found that since this campaign began sales are up for all three.

This commercial is nauseating, irritating and just plain objectionable. Ford also did the same thing with the Kelly Clarkson song. There sales are down and they are grasping at straws to appeal to the younger generation, thereby getting rid of those crappy cars.

I only pay attention to the programmes I actually want to watch, ask me what was on the last commercial break I couldn't tell you, I mentally switch off. I'm an advertisers nightmare.


I didn't mind the commercial at first, but it has turned into torture.

I have only seen the commercial 2 or 3 times.

Either I'm not watching as much tv as you or I watch different channels. I watch Bravo a lot, especially Project Runway lately, so maybe that's one reason. I don't watch most of the mainstream shows so that probably helps.

I also tape everything on my dvr and fast forward through all the commercials. If I happen to see Taylor's commercial, I stop and watch it.
The whole AI show is commercialism and manipulation.

Yet I can't blame the talented kids on the show for wanting a chance to start a career that uses their talents. So I try to look beyond the cheap commercialism of the show and give the singers a chance. Taylor included.

And by the way, he was my favorite. I enjoy him, he's fun, and I look forward to his cd.
A really great thing about this commerical is that you can recognize it in fast forward.

I usually watch TV with a TiVo delay and miss the commercials. This one, however, I click back to real speed and watch. Ford really should sponser a weekly Taylor Hicks TV show.

Two things, first, I am a TV aholic if possible (24/7 ) and I have never seen this conmerial. But as I am sitting here reading these messages, I can't help but ask; so what, what in the hell difference does it make.

Turn the channel, get up, do something eles. Ford is getting exaclty what it wants atracting viewers and requardless of what you say, Ford has won. Point, I just spent close to an hour reading and writing about something I claim to care nothing about.

I have one show that I watch regularly - so you think you can dance.

Since the show is produced by the same people who do AI the commercial is played ad nauseum. It is on during EVERY single commercial break (which there are way too many of). I mute commercials all the time and use the break to do odd chores.

However, I am absolutely sick of this commercial. I do not have any negative feelings for Taylor or Ford, rather the entire advertising community. I understand that the industry is using this time to feed the consumer mentality, but I have to say that enough is enough.


I don't believe that I purchase ANYTHING because somebody on TV told me to. I am a big girl and have a mind of my own. Play commercials - okay - but cut the repetitiveness.


Okay, seriously dude, you need to get a life. I mean, who blogs about a commercial that you hate? I mean, this commercial isn't going to break Taylor Hicks.

Is it as bad as the "Like A Rock" chevy commercials Bob Seger did a while back? Honestly, it totally ruined Bob Seger for me, which was certainly destined to occur - but the commercial just accelerated the process.

We were overjoyed seeing him make it to a big time commercial and will tolerate Ford's over running of it and still smile a smile back at Taylor as he's spinning around the stage having a damn old good time cause he makes us feel like we're in those shoes with him.

I will point something out - people who think that Taylor is getting richer by the moment are truly clueless. Taylor's made the majority of the money that he's going to see for a long, long time from winning AI. His record contract will have him seeing mere pennies per album sold and he's probably roped into a multiple album deal, with merchandising and touring rights that will have him seeing little in the way of profits (but AI and his label will be raking it in thanks to you people.

) I hope he invests his AI winnings wisely. There's a reason why we see Kelly Clarkson (and now many others) advertising for Proactiv and other things like that, you know - and it's not because she just really, really likes the product.
I'm a fan of Taylor's but I can see how a commercial could be annoying.

I always wondered why people would devote so much time and energy to one celebrity/musician/actor/movie when there is so much more out there waiting to be discovered. Personally, I love Taylor's style, his music, his personality, the total package.

Taylor has a fantastic fan base, comprised of people of all ages. He is a talented singer, songwriter, and entertainer. I understand that not everyone likes him.

That's OK, none of us are liked by everyone. The world doesn't work that way. What I like about him is his passion.

After listening to his early music (I'm not limited to only hearing AI performances), it has given me a greater appreciation for all kinds of music. I never have liked RAP, but because of Taylor, I have opened my ears to many types and styles of music that I never liked. I'm really listening to music now.

As far as the record company taking advantage of Taylor, this isn't going to happen. I have read and seen many interviews that Taylor has done. This is not a man who would sign a contract that he couldn't control.

When his music comes out, people will see that for themselves. He is more than the AI clone that most people have seen. I wish him a long, successful career and I am just thankful that he is taking us along for the ride.

He is selling concerts all over the country and he has sold greater then 675,000 cds (in the US) to date with little to no airplay (due to him not playing bubble gum pop/rock music and of course pay for play). He will be around long after the flash in the pan acts fall to the wayside!
