As I'm sure you all know already, Matthew Barney's drawing restraint...
9? 8? not sure what number he's up to these days- premiered at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art last night.
Our San Francisco correspondent, Darren, Friend of Cat Dirt (of DFCD, for short) filed this report.
For the record: Cat Dirt and Cat Dirt wife flew to NYC couple years back and watched all five cremasters, in order, at the Guggenheim. Also: We flew to Boise Idaho to see Matthew Barney give a rare public talk- where he drew the entire cremaster cycle as a single line and explained the whole concept behind drawing restraint.
After the show, we asked to take a picture with him, he said, no, and our friend, formerly a staff photographer for WWD in NYC, took the picture anyway(you can see it on Cat Dirt wife's myspace page, if you want).
Here is the report:
So last night was the opening reception at SFMOMA and there were tons
of
rumors about a Bjork performance (Matmos was playing at the
reception.) For all I know it did happen, but we still got our taste.
We were at Anu waiting for James Lavelle when we got a call from a
friend of ours to head down to the Stud ASAP: Bjork was going to DJ at
a
tribute to her music. We booked it down there, waited in line forever
(it was a madhouse), and then: we saw Bjork DJing heavy metal music
behind a glass partition. People were literally pressed up against the
glass staring at her like she was an alien.
Which she sort of is.
Oh, and did I mention the bar was so crowded it was like 1000 degrees?
