Now into their fifth year as an absurdly attractive couple, Will and Kate, both 24, have lately seemed so snuggly – and Kate so seamlessly ingrained into Will's inner circle of friends and family – that the engagement gossip is getting as hot as a pot of Earl Grey. Britain's Mail on Sunday even reported last week that Kate has been invited to the Queen's country retreat Sandringham to join the entire Windsor clan for Christmas Day lunch – an unprecedented honor for an unmarried partner of a royal and, if true, said one royal observer, tantamount to an engagement announcement. (Buckingham Palace won't confirm the invitation.
) There is also the 10,000-sq.-ft. neo-Georgian mansion being built by the royal family on part of a 900-acre estate in a village in Herefordshire, which many believe is being readied for Will and Kate.
"It's decision time," says Robert Jobson, author of a new book about the couple, William's Princess. "Will has said he doesn't want to get married until he is 28, but that is just a smoke screen. The pressure starts now.
" So just how close is Will to popping the question? Those in the know at Buckingham Palace say no one is ordering "Save the Date" cards just yet and insist Kate isn't being formally groomed for the future. "There are no people advising her or preparing her for anything," says one palace insider.
"She is going about her private life as a private individual." Friends of the couple say that Will, known for his stubborn streak, won't let anyone dictate a time frame – but also acknowledge an engagement is no longer a matter of if but rather when. "This is certainly not something they are going to rush into," family friend tells PEOPLE.
"But their relationship is very strong." TMZ has confirmed the "Can't Hardly Wait" star told police that two men recognized him from his film and TV roles, and robbed him and wife Sunny Mabrey in their driveway. The thugs allegedly stole Embry's wallet containing $400, a watch, and threatened Mabrey.
As the men fled in a silver SUV, one eyewitness tells TMZ that Ethan raced into his house, emerged with a handgun and fired three rounds -- though it is unclear whether they were in the air or toward the vehicle. Police, however, refused to confirm this information to TMZ. Mabrey's spokesman Jeff Raymond tells TMZ, "they are fine and the police are handling it.

The six-bedroom house, on a private estate, has an indoor swimming pool, underground garage, sports pavilion, games room and a state-of-the-art greenhouse. There is a high-tech security system and a cottage for staff. The newlyweds also have homes in Beverly Hills and Colorado.
Scientology leader, David Miscavige, who was 44-year- old Cruise's best man at his wedding ceremony in Italy last week is thought to have inspired the purchase.
Scientology's founder, L Ron Hubbard, lived for seven years at Saint Hill Castle in East Grinstead, now the UK headquarters.

S. Weekly said it was not known when Cruise and 27-year-old Dawson's Creek star Miss Holmes will spend their first night at the property. Last night estate agent Simon Lillicrap, of Howard Cundey and Co, said the Mission: Impossible star had been attracted to properties in the area in the past.
He said: 'Tom was looking at houses a couple of years ago while he was still with Nicole Kidman. But they didn't buy anything.
'The houses where he has bought are very exclusive.
They range in price from about £500,000 to £2.5million - but for what they would be getting it is quite a buy.
'The park, the road and all the hedges are maintained by the residents - it is a completely private estate and the houses are lovely.

Oscar-winning writer and acclaimed director Sofia Coppola and singer Thomas Mars welcomed a baby girl, Romy, in Paris on Tuesday.
This is the couple’s first child together. "Baby, mom and dad are all doing great," Coppola's rep said. Mars is the frontman for the French band Phoenix, which makes a cameo in Coppola's latest film Marie Antoinette.
Coppola was previously married for four years to director Spike Jones, with whom she had no children. In 2004, she won the Academy Award for best original screenplay for the film Lost in Translation. She also wrote and directed the highly lauded film The Virgin Suicides.
After nearly a week of clubbing, partying and shopping in LA with new BFF, Paris Hilton, Us has learned exclusively that Britney Spears has abruptly pulled out of co-hosting with the heiress on the Fox Billboard Music Awards, scheduled to air live on December 4.
"She pulled out," confirms a source with Fox. "She didn't give a reason.
" The says that Hilton is still a possible host despite losing Spears as a sidekick. Other sources confirm that as recent as this morning, agents for both Hilton and Spears were hashing out the final terms of the contract, but at 5pm today, Spears had backed out of negotiations.
"We really don't know the reason.
But we're disappointed she backed out." says a Fox source. The source says the show may go on with Hilton as solo host, or it may feature comedian (and Fox sitcom star) Brad Garrett, given he's at the top of the show producer's wish list.
At press time, neither Hilton or Spears' reps were available for comment.
Friends of Kid Rock (real name Bob Richie) say his marriage to Pam Anderson ended after four months because he was tired of staying home with the kids while she was out partying. Yesterday, we told you how the final straw came when Richie exploded after watching his wife in the "Borat" movie - calling her a "whore" and a "slut.
" But, "Bob rearranged his life for Pamela," a Rock pal tells us. "He moved from Detroit - something he said he would never do - and moved his son to L.A.
to be with her."
But once Rock was in L.A.
, he found himself a single father to not only his son, Robert James Richie Jr., but to Anderson's two kids, Brandon and Dylan, as well. "Pamela would go out almost every night and end up at [photographer] David LaChapelle's studio," Rock's friend says.
"Bob was home alone with the three kids." The "Baywatch" babe confirmed that scenario in this month's Blender, which quotes her as saying, "When I go to Hollywood, I start at the Chateau Marmont and then I usually end up naked in David LaChapelle's studio taking crazy pictures. That's usually a night for me.
Four or five in the morning, lying across a car in David's studio."
Kid Rock was also said to suspect that Anderson was less than truthful about the miscarriage she claims she had. "Bob never saw any proof or heard from her at any time that she was pregnant.

Detectives from the Burbank Police Department served a search warrant on Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, outside NBC studios in Burbank at approximately 7:30 p.
m. this evening. Police say they found the rapper in possession of cocaine, a firearm and a large amount of marijuana.
He was also cited for allegedly having a false compartment in his vehicle.
The rapper had just performed on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and was leaving the studio when police pulled his car over on Bob Hope Drive and placed him under arrest. Bail has been set at $60,000, and TMZ is told that the lawyer for the rap star expects him to be released sometime this evening.
Law enforcement officials tell TMZ the search warrant was conducted as part of an ongoing investigation into the Dogg's arrest earlier this month at the Burbank Airport, after he allegedly tried carrying a gun in a carry-on bag onto a plane. New best friends Britney Spears and Paris Hilton are taking their act onstage: The pair will co-host next week's Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas, a source confirms to PEOPLE. "There are no plans for either to perform, but they will host the event together," says a show source.
