LONDON, England (AP) -- Rocker Pete Doherty said Wednesday that people close to him are insisting that he kick his addiction to drugs.
The people I'm closest to have had enough. They've said it's drugs or them, the Babyshambles frontman said at a court appearance to review his progress in complying with a treatment order.
A lot has changed in the past week, Doherty added.
He didn't say whether the change involved his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, or had anything to do with his April 12 concert appearance with Carl Barat, his former partner in The Libertines.
At the same concert, Doherty referred to Moss as his fiance.
Appearing before District Judge Jane McIvor at Thames Magistrates Court, Doherty indicated that he still wasn't clean.
I'm quite keen to show a negative test as soon as possible really, Doherty said.
The judge commented that Doherty, who arrived 30 minutes late, was under no obligation to appear at all.
There's no obligation for you to turn up to the reviews. The fact you've turned up shows co-operation -- more than cooperation -- and there is no risk of you breaching this order.
