Megastar Musician Prince to Perform at the Awards Show, Which Honors Outstanding Latino Artistic Achievement in Television, Film and Music, Additional Talent and Performers Scheduled to Appear Include Jessica Alba, Andy Garcia, George Lopez, Mario Lopez, Los Lonely Boys, Carlos Mencia and Eva Mendes Nominations for "The 2007 ALMA Awards" were announced today during a press conference at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Telecast host Eva Longoria ("Desperate Housewives"), NCLR President and CEO Janet Murgua and Mario Lopez made the announcement. "The 2007 ALMA Awards" will tape on Friday, June 1 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and air TUESDAY, JUNE 5 (9:00-11:00 p.
m. ET) on the ABC Television Network. In addition to the nominated awards, a series of special achievement honors will also be presented.
It was also announced that megastar musician Prince will perform with a special surprise guest. Additional talent and performers scheduled to appear include Jessica Alba, Andy Garcia, George Lopez, Mario Lopez, Los Lonely Boys, Carlos Mencia and Eva Mendes. An added feature will be the celebration of ten top Latino designers who will be dressing Longoria throughout the telecast in custom couture gowns, as well as designer shoes, bags and jewelry.
The two-hour special is presented by the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S. The annual ALMA (American Latino Media Arts) Awards special recognizes and celebrates the outstanding artistic achievement of Latinos in film, television and music.
