Ne-Yo has hit out at Whitney Houston's comeback material, branding it too predictable.
The producer has listened to eight of the tracks earmarked for the singer's first original album in four years, and was disappointed the music did not excite him past its basic intention.
"They all had the same theme, which was: 'My name is Whitney Houston and this is my triumphant comeback'," he said.
"We all understand she has gone through a lot. I'm sure we all get that but I think she needs songs about regular everyday life.
Houston has requested that the producer help her add some spice to the record, which is due out later this year: "That's what I'm planning to add to the album - songs about everyday emotion," he added.
