Pro-feminist music and arts festival Ladyfest will be held in Toronto for a fourth time this fall, but they're kicking things off this month with a rocking fundraiser.
The grassroots DIY non-profit organization will hold its festivities from Sept. 27 to 30 in and around the Kensington Market neighbourhood.

It will feature musicians, visual and performance artists, authors and spoken-word artists and poets, and aims to promote diversity and eliminate oppression while commemorating the work and accomplishments of women.
A preview of the festival will take place at an April 20 fundraiser at the White Orchid, where Galaxy, Republic Of Safety, Kickers, 123Ten and Carmen Elle will perform.
Ladyfest events have also taken place in Vancouver, Halifax and Guelph, Ontario, but the most successful has been in Ottawa, where they'll stage their sixth festival this fall.

Ladyfest was born out of the Riot-Grrl movement and premiered in Olympia, Washington in 2000. Since then, major cities all over the world including Dublin, Berlin, Melbourne and Singapore have hosted similar festivals.
Proceeds from all Ladyfest events go to non-profit organizations.
