A glass of ice cold Coca-Cola or the brandy accompaniment enjoyed at a weekend sports game are in danger of disappearing for a while.
As the hot weather continues Coca-Cola, Sprite and Fanta are among the popular drinks that may soon be in short supply.
Coca-Cola South Africa this week announced a pending shortage of its fizzy drinks due to bottling problems.

The beverage giant is currently short of carbon dioxide, the key ingredient needed to put the bubbles in its cold drinks.
"Our CO2 suppliers are struggling to get sufficient stock from the primary CO2 sources in the industry," said company communications director Kaizer Nyatsumba.
The still or non-carbonated drinks such as the bottled waters Bonaqua and Valpre, sports drink Powerade and Minute Maid juices will not be affected.

"Together with our bottling partners we regret any inconvenience experienced by our customers and consumers," Nyatsumba said.
"We have been assured by our CO2 suppliers that everything possible is being done to normalise the situation as soon as possible." - Staff Reporter
