Beatles' Apple Corp. Settles With EMI Over Royalties

The Beatles' Apple Corp. has settled a dispute over royalties with the EMI Music Group, which could be the final step towards putting the Fab Four's music up for sale online. In a joint statement, the two companies merely said the dispute "was settled on mutually acceptable terms last month.

In 2005, Apple Corp. took action against EMI in 2005, claiming it was owed over 30 million pounds (or approximately $60 million) in royalties. , Apple settled with longtime legal adversary Apple Computer (which became Apple Inc.

) over the trademark to the name "Apple." And , Apple Corp. named Jeff Jones as its new CEO, as Neil Aspinall stepped down after over 40 years with the Beatles' company.


There has been regular speculation about the Beatles' catalog being sold online, though it is expected their music is being digitally re-mastered before any sort of release to digital retailers.
