Dr. Dog certainly doesn’t jam in the traditional sense, but they definitely rock in every way. I can only sum up their sound as a mix between Beatles-influenced indie rock and dirty southern rock-and-roll. So the crowd couldn t help but chant aloud when Miguel Cairo trotted out to left field: We want Bernie and Bring back Bernie. Where have you gone Bernie Williams? How did that happen? AF: He was just walking around as we were moving all our gear off of the field, as we had done a little acoustic thing before the game. I had some percussion stuff jacked up against the wall and he comes over to talk to us. He s like Percussion? I like percussion. He knows Marc Quinones from the Allman Brothers. , but Slomoff did it all, playing electric piano, singing incredible harmonies and shredding key guitar solos. I m pretty sure this album and tour is Jared s first real gig, but he won t stay unknown for long. Ironically, he came into the Phish world due to his vast knowledge and expertise about film music is just a hobby for the guy. It s time for a new hobby. [.. .] |
That increased speculation that Big Red himself will be on stage with Phil, but now all signs are pointing to blues musician Larry McCray on at least one guitar spot. [img] According to the latest comments on McCray s MySpace page: Tomorrow Larry McCray [.. .] |
Yet we haven’t heard anything from Mike himself, so HT opened the case to find our favorite afromulletted bassist. Maybe Gordo s hangin with the apostles on this Good Friday you tell us. | Wilco has announced some North American dates in June at some of the best venues in the country. The Pines in Northampton is one of the coolest places I ve ever seen a concert outdoors. The Count Basie Theater in Red Bank is another great room: They don t often have rock shows at the newly restored theater that was built in 1926. Check out the dates, and check out today s batch o links: The 2007 Newport Folk Festival has an eclectic lineup including the Allman Brothers Band, Rage s Tom Morello, Grace Potter, and Alison Krauss Sharon Jones will perform with Booker T. | DUO ANNOUNCE VENUE CHANGE FOR APRIL 19th ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCES As many of you may or may not have heard, unfortunately, Tonic will be closing its doors for good on April 13th. This means that we have to change the venue for the previously-scheduled Benevento/Russo Duo acoustic shows that were scheduled for April 19th at the venue. Thanks to our old friends at Rocks Off (link to www.rocksoff. com ) and the Knitting Factory (link to www.knittingfactory.com ), the show will go on. | 10. Close But No Cigar - Straight Outta Lynwood (13th album) Starting off, we have a track off Al’s last album. No, it’s not a Bill Clinton tribute, but rather why Al would never marry Hillary. Okay, it has nothing to do with any Clinton, but it’s pretty funny. If you thought Seinfeld was neurotic about women, wait til you hear Al. The video is actually done by the guy who brought you Ren Stimpy: 9. One More Minute - Dare To Be Stupid (3rd album) This is the first original I fell in love with; [... ] |
That s not to say that duets are inherently bad, but there s no denying that two people performing together especially in pop music is likely to result less in the beauty of Endless Love and more in the horror of Celine Dion rocking out with Anastacia (um, who?). Back in the day I saw From Good Homes on the H.O.R. D.E. tour and really enjoyed Todd s performance. Railroad Earth is made up of musicians who do an even better job of playing with and pushing Todd. The phrasings and tones that came from Sheaffer s guitar were unique and always kept me on my toes. Contrary to what I had heard, the band isn t straight-up bluegrass by any means: There were a few spacey jams, some tight improvisation, and even a few rockers. Each member of the [... ] |
| Keith Richards ain t the only drugged-out rocker in the news this week Top-form junkie Pete Doherty posted a clip of his new tune online yesterday, and the reaction to KP Nuts has been mixed. But I think it s a cool tune, and I m always up for some underproduced, underground shit, especially when it involves Kate Moss. Check out the latest from the Babyshambles frontman: If you re interested in finding out more about how cool drug abuse can be, check out Rolling Stone s awesome feature piece on Doherty from last year. |

| I learned it from snorting you! Turns out, Keith Richards longtime manager claims the skeletal rocker was totally kidding when he said I snorted my father. He was cremated and I couldn t resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. Joke or not, the whole incident begs the question: Which dead person would you most like to cremate and snort?
