Monday, Dec. 25:
Merry Christmas!
Whether you’re surrounded by a house full of family and friends or are enjoying a quieter holiday, I wish you joy and good health throughout the day and into the new year.

Movies and TV
"Dreamgirls," the musical about a 1960s girl group on the rise, is now a movie starring a bevy of talented actors including Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy. It opens in theaters nationwide today.

Too tired or broke to leave the house?

The cable channel G4 is airing season one of the critically-acclaimed comedy "Arrested Development." If you think your family’s dysfunctional, check out this wonderfully wacky show for a reality check. Visit www.

g4tv.com for a schedule.

From you to you
The presents have been opened, the big family dinner has been enjoyed and the frenzy of the holiday season is coming to a close. Give yourself a gift: A little prize for having survived yet another year of goodwill and cheer. Get a massage, a mani and pedi or buy yourself a piece of art or a gadget that you wanted and didn’t get.

It’s great to give to others during this season and it’s also OK to give a little something to yourself.

Snow fun
The weather in the Twin Tiers has been unseasonably warm, but by the time you’re reading this there’s hopefully some white stuff on the ground.

Tanglewood Nature Center and Museum in Big Flats offers snowshoe rentals so that avid outdoors folk can enjoy the trails. The cost is $5 per hour/$15 per day or $4 per hour/$12 per day for members. There are discounts for groups.

Whether there’s snow or not, the trails at Tanglewood are open for hiking year-round so enjoy a little nature and work off those holiday pounds. Information: .

Holiday fun at CMoG
If you’re off for the holidays take a trip to the Corning Museum of Glass and take part in the special family activities taking place. From preschoolers to grandparents, patrons will have a blast at the Walk-In Workshop, 10 a.m.

to 4:30 p.m. this week, making paperweights and other glass items.

Explore the exhibits, take in "The Magic of Glass Show," or pick something up in the Glass Market. .

glennhcurtissmuseum.org for times and directions.

Saturday, Dec. 30:
‘Kinky Boots’
This foreign film (don’t worry, it’s British) for "ladies, gentlemen and those who have yet to make up their minds" is a must-see DVD.

The story, based on true events, is about a bloke trying desperately to save a shoe factory that’s been in his family for generations. It’s a film about having the courage to try new things and stepping outside your comfort zone. It also explains the allure of the stiletto for women (and men).
