Music learning opportunity for children: The North Port Orchestra will present its fifth annual Children's Concert at 10 a.m. Tuesday at North Port Performing Arts Center, 6400 W.
Price Blvd. About 700 fifth-graders from four elementary schools are expected to attend via bus transportation provided by the orchestra. Middle-school music students are also invited depending on availability of seats in the theater.
Music Director Sasha von Dassow will explore the use of rhythm, dynamics and repetition in music. As a special treat and inspiration, 7-year-old violinist Kira Vehse will perform Fantasia by Mollenhaur accompanied by pianist Judy Gerlach. Free AARP income tax assistance.
