Jazz Musician Tony Scott Dies In Rome

Rome, Italy (AHN) - Jazz clarinetist, composer and arranger Tony Scott, who worked with such legendary musicians as Charlie Parker and Billie Holiday, died Wednesday in Rome, Italy. He was 85.
"His death fills jazz audiences all over the world with sadness," a press release from the House of Jazz, an Italian center for jazz promotion, reportedly said.


Born in New Jersey, Scott attended the Juilliard School of Music from 1940 to 1942.
Scott's decades-long career included work with Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington and Sarah Vaughan.
He toured extensively throughout the world, playing in Europe, Africa and Asia.

Scott lived in Rome since the 1980s.
A funeral was planned for Saturday.
