Alanis Morissette has called off her engagement to actor Ryan Reynolds. It comes despite a recent rekindling of the relationship which was first thought to be finished last June. The couple s spokespeople have released a statement to People magazine.
It says: Ryan Reynolds and Alanis Morissette have mutually decided to end their engagement. They remain close friends and continue to have the utmost love and admiration for each other. They ask that their privacy be respected surrounding this personal matter.
The 32-year-old singer has been dating Ryan - best known for his work in Just Friends and Blade: Trinity - for almost four years. They were first engaged in 2004. Although they broke up last summer, the pair were soon seen back with each other, holding hands on the streets of Vancouver (both are Canadian).
Ryan is currently starring in Smokin Aces - the number one film at the US box office - alongside Ben Affleck.
